Soundtrack of the Month: Final Fantasy VII
Think of an RPG. Most likely one of the first, if not the first that comes to your mind is a Final Fantasy title. The Final Fantasy series has become truly synonymous with the term "RPG". Since its inception in 1987, it has pushed the boundaries of where RPG's, and indeed videogames in general, can go. Its beautiful visuals, game play, and, of course, music, make these games a legend in their own regard.
This month, Final Fantasy VII takes our spot as soundtrack of the month for these very reasons.
Nobuo Uematsu, a legend in his own regard, has treated fans to a vast array of beautiful music for over 50 Final Fantasy games and soundtracks, as well as numerous well-known titles, from Chrono Trigger to the newly released Blue Dragon series. He is a master of his craft, and fans around the world have enjoyed his work for decades.
Final Fantasy VII, which pushed the envelope in several regards, being the first PlayStation Final Fantasy title, was treated to no less than perfection from Mr. Uematsu. The soundtrack complements the game’s most exciting and heartbreaking moments, featuring upbeat tracks such as "Crazy Motorcycle", and more melancholy songs such as "Aerith’s Theme". The result: a game play experience that not only immerses you in its story line, but also in the moment.
For many fans, Final Fantasy VII is one of the best, if not the best, in the series. And this month, its soundtrack is our soundtrack of the month.
